Harry Potter was my first great reading love. It’s the series I always go back to, and it’s always on my reading list no matter how many times I’ve read it. But on the whole my reading taste has expanded beyond just fiction and fantasy, into genres I never quite imagined like sci-fi, and a touch of romance.
My to-read list is incredibly eclectic, I definitely don’t feel like there’s very much of anything that’s on my list that you would say, oh yeah, that’s definitely Narcissa, and yet if you know me a lot of these books probably won’t be as surprising as I think they would be.
I’m a huge fan of Chuck Wendig and the Blackbirds Series, so naturally when I learned he wrote a Star Wars companion (I think is what it would be called) I had to read it. I’m not a huge Star Wars fan, which I realize is something very few people are willing to admit, and it’s funny because 99% of my friends are HUGE fans. I’m also a fan of Shondaland so finishing Year of Yes is on my list as well.
A while back I watched a great TED talk by Elizabeth Gilbert on creativity, so naturally her book Big Magic is on my list too. Some books on my to read list are there because I loved the cover. That may seem silly but as a graphic designer, covers can make or break a book for me.
It’s likely I won’t like some of these books, and that’s fine. A number of them are samples, so I can afford not to like them. Either way, as I mentioned yesterday, I really need to get more into reading. So on that note:
What’s on your to-read list?
